Operation Battle born 2025 – Memorial Day 2025 - The UNLV Military & Veteran Services Center / SVA Chapter Rebel Vets and VFW Post 12101 will host the 5th southern Nevada Operation Battle Born (OBB) on May 24-26, 2025.  OBB consists of veterans and community members who will march 60 miles over three days with 7,000 dog tags in honor of fallen service members since 9/11. This event is sponsored by VFW Post 12101, the UNLV Military & Veteran Services Center, Team Red, White and Blue and the Southern Nevada Veteran Chamber of Commerce.   Altogether, about 250 Southern Nevadans will participate in the march. The marchers will start in Armagosa on May 24 and end at the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Boulder City on Memorial Day, in time for a special ceremony in the cemetery chapel. The Rebel Vet team will cover 30 miles a day for two days, with each participant walking 10-mile increments while carrying one of four 30-pound "rucks” — short for rucksacks — containing a total of 6,950 dog tags in honor of service members who died since 9/11. The 59 service members from Nevada who died are packed in a separate rucksack, carefully bundled together in American flag bandanas.
